Dal Bati round shaped baked wheat flour bread quite crispy and delicious drizzled with ghee and topped with five types of protein rich mixed lentils (panchmel dal). This food is Rajasthan recipe. People like to enjoy this mouth watering food with garlic chutney and churma. The traditional way of cooking bati over heated charcoal directly so it gets burnt smoky flavor the reason why it not very easy to cook, this required an expert or skilled person but still with the help of electric oven and enjoy having it.

Today we will know how to cook using gas tandoor and an alternative.

 

Dal Bati Churma Recipe 

Prep time: 20 minutes Cook time: 35 minutes | Serves: 2 serving

Ingredients ( Required For Dal Bati Recipe )

  1. 1 cup of whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
  2. ¼ cup of semolina (sooji/rava)
  3. 4 tablespoons of ghee or cooking oil
  4. 4 tablespoons of melted chee to dip preapared batis
  5. Milk or water as per requirement
  6. Panchmel dal for serving
  7. Process of making

Process of Making Dal Bati Churma

#01 Pre-heat oven to 190 degree Celsius.

#02 Sieve whole wheat flour in a large bowl. Add sooji, baking soda, 4 tablespoons of cooking oil or ghee and salt.

#03 Mix all ingredients well with the help of your hand. You will find it gets crumbly.

#04 Add water or milk in required quantity to bind the stiff dough. Cover it and let it rest for 10 minutes.

#05 Now divide the dough into 8 equal portions and give a round shape like a ball. Gently press each ball in between your palms and flatten it into a thick Pattie.

#06 Arrange them on a baking tray with a small gap around them.

#07 Place the baking tray in the pre-heated oven and bake raw batis at 190 C until they get brown, it will take around 14 to 15 minutes.

#08 Take the tray out from the oven.

#09 Take melted ghee in a small bowl and dip each bati in it and transfer to a plate.

#10 Squash baked bati with your hand and drizzle some ghee over it, pour panchmel dal over it and serve with garlic chutney or Rajasthani churma.
